Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9797 and two more "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9797 was constructed in March of 1951. Partially visible at the far left is Juniata's 17th Street Bridge.

Title:  PRR East Altoona Ready Tracks, 1966
Description:  Waters. Here is an original telephoto view that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-February of 1966. Prominent here are the Pennsylvania Railroad's Locomotive Ready Tracks in East Altoona. Visible on the left is PRR engine #9797, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in March of 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. Also visible are several other ALCo and GM-EMD locomotives idiling-away in front of Juniata's 17th Street Bridge. Partially visible at the far right are the East Altoona Roundhouse and the venerable Water Tower.

All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9797 is an EF-15A built in March of 1951. This A-B-B set is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.
