PRR 9851, EFP-15, 1966
Mid-Mountain. Here is an original telephoto view that I took just West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-June of 1966. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9851 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #9851 is an EFP-15 built in June of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They're passing under four-track Signal Bridge #2397/8 with a merchandise freight train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Also visible in the far distance is Brush Mountain.

Tim Huemmer General Interesting shot. Any idea what the purpose is of the lights to the left of each of the eastbound signals? 8/26/2016 1:55:57 AM
